Local Eats: Georgetown Cupcake!

Finally got the chance to visit Georgetown Cupcake and try out their famous/delicious/famously delicious cupcakes a couple weeks ago.  While the trek down to Georgetown was fairly complicated (driving to the Metro station, Metroing in, and then taking a bus) and the shop was the one store in DC that had a line snaking out the door...

IT WAS WORTH IT! :)

Georgetown Cupcake, known to many as that cupcake store on that cupcake show (DC Cupcakes) has been the place everyone mentions when the topic of Georgetown comes up.

See that line?  On a Sunday morning, no less.  As the father behind us said to his son, "These cupcakes better be the best cupcakes I've ever had!"

Mmm.. while they may not have been the best (those cupcakes are yet to be determined), they were still pretty scrumptious!

After waiting outside for 10 minutes, in line for five, and for a table for another 10, we finally sat down to enjoy our little cakes.

Clockwise from top left: Red Velvet, Milk Chocolate Birthday, Peanut Butter Fudge, Strawberry.  See menu here.

What was cool about Georgetown Cupcake was that there were rotating flavors depending on the day of the week.  It makes a lot of sense, but it also makes me want to come every day and try every one.  Yum! :)

This sad little one didn't survive the trip home.  But it was oh-so-good.
