Local Eats: Wasabi Sushi

Recently, Andrew and I went to Wasabi, a nifty restaurant located in Tyson's Corner, for a nice, indulgent sushi lunch.  Despite its strange location (in the middle of the mall, open to two stories of shoppers to gawk at), it's been one of our favorite casual places to go.

The reason why it's been such a popular place since its introduction to the mall last year isn't so much for the food, but because it runs on a conventionally Japanese fast-food sushi method: the conveyor belt!

Wasabi is a fast-food chain, but despite this, we still really enjoyed the selection of sushi available to us... as Americanized as they were.  Because you essentially serve yourself at these sushi-go-round joints, you pay by the plate (notice -- the different colored plates indicate different price points).  And it means you can eat as little or as much as you'd like.

But please, we wanted to stuff ourselves.  :)

In all, we had the:
Baja Tuna Roll
California Volcano Roll
Crunchy Salmon Roll
California Roll
Salmon and Avocado Roll
Rainbow Roll
Green Tea Mousse
Vegetable Spring Rolls

Our foray into kaiten dining has been pretty limited but until we experience eating at some authentic sushi train restaurants, this one does the trick.  :)
